Corona Treaters
From Film to Finish – Excellence in Every Layer.
Corona Treatment is a surface modification process that increases the surface tension of polymer films. The process works by passing the film through a corona discharge, generated between high-voltage electrodes and a earth roller covered with a dielectric silicon sleeve. The process oxidises the film surface, improving the wettability and making it more receptive to inks and adhesives.
How it works:
- Film passes over an electrode connected to a high-frequency generator.
- High-voltage discharge ionizes the air between the electrode and a grounded roll.
- This creates ozone and plasma, modifying the surface layer of the film.
- The surface energy increases, allowing for better adhesion.
